(no subject)

First I had an in-person interview for a freelance tech blogger position, which turned into a lovely 2 hour chat about tech and education. I've been getting the unfunded runaround a lot recently, and, no, I'm not going to work for a percentage of profits in future, and I REALLY don't want that sprung on me at the end of an interview, soo I was very happy when the interviewer asked me when I would be available to start, and discussed a salary range. I mean, it wasn't my dream salary range, but it would be quite liveable. Also it was in money and not in a percentage of revenue, once we start to have revenue.

Then I heard from an internet friend that she can be on an upcoming Girl Geek Con panel with another internet friend and me, and that suddenly feels like at Real Thing that is actually happening! It's a discussion of cultural norms for women working in games -- Employers who would like to see female developers don't need a splashy Women In Tech initiative as much as they need a team where "get back in the kitchen, har har har" and "oooh a lady programmer" aren't the norm.

Then I had a phone interview for a different freelance job, in which the interviewer asked how I would feel about moving to Manhattan if everything worked out they were able to offer me a full-time position.

It was a very promising day, except for that part where I sat in the car for a good 10 or 15 minutes today, psyching myself up to drive. DRIVING IS DUMB, and also I'm very shaky and frightened about it ever since that blowout.
